What does democracy look like? This image arrived in an announcement from Project Projects, who (rather formidably) designed Ours: Democracy in the Age of Branding, an exhibition that opened exactly 16 minutes ago at Parson’s The New School of Design. Democracy has indeed become a global brand: I found this oh-so-innocent bag from Forever 21, the cheap secret weapon of fashionistas rich and poor — see, democracy at work! — somehow ironic/ amusing/ disconcerting when situated in this particular context.
